Application of ferrosilicon
1. Used as deoxidizer and alloying agent in steelmaking industry
2. Used as inoculant and spheroidizer in cast iron industry
3. Use as reducing agent in ferroalloy production
4.Magnesium in CaO.MgO is replaced by magnesium in the high temperature smelting process of Magnesium metallurgy by Pijiang process. It consumes about 1.2 tons of ferrosilicon for every ton of Magnesium metallurgy, which plays a very important role in the production of Magnesium metallurgy.
5.Uses in other areas. The fined or atomized ferrosilicon powder can be used as suspension phase in mineral processing industry. In the welding rod manufacturing industry, it can be used as the coating of the welding rod. High silicon ferrosilicon can be used to manufacture silicone and other products in chemical industry
In these applications, the steelmaking industry, foundry industry and ferroalloy industry are the largest users of ferrosilicon. They consume more than 90% of ferrosilicon. Among all kinds of ferrosilicon, 75% ferrosilicon is the most widely used. In the steelmaking industry, about 3-5 kg 75% ferrosilicon is consumed for each ton of steel produced.
